Supervisor at Middlesbrough
23/04/2008
Do you want to check that your credit union is working as it should?
Under the Credit Union Act 1979, credit unions are required to have a Supervisory Committee. Supervisors check randomly that documentation is being completed correctly by members; transactions are being processed correctly by staff and that petty cash is being handled properly.
Supervisors submit their findings to the Internal Audit Officer and he then reports to the Board of Directors. Appropriate corrective action is then carried out, if necessary.
The role of Supervisor is a volunteer position with travelling expenses paid, with a commitment of up to two hours once per month during working hours.
A Supervisor must be a member of Police Credit Union and will need to be registered by PCU as an approved person with the Financial Services Authority.
Although an unpaid position, a Supervisor is able to monitor his / her own credit union and become part of the PCU team, striving to deliver an excellent service to the police family.
